Immersioni a Bonaire

Immersioni a Bonaire

What does Bonaire have to offer underwater?

Bonaire’s west coast — where virtually all of the well-known dive sites are located — features an exceptionally well-preserved Caribbean reef ecosystem.

Divers here encounter parrotfish, surgeonfish, angelfish, sergeant majors, moray eels, trumpetfish, and groupers. Each year, around 150 turtle nests from three different species are counted. Large green moray eels, rays, and impressive schools of fish are also frequently spotted, while seahorses and frogfish skillfully hide among the dense coral forests. The reef itself captivates with its hard and soft corals, sea fans, gorgonians, and colorful tube and barrel sponges.

This diversity is made possible by the Bonaire National Marine Park, which has been protected since 1979 — a reef that, compared to many other Caribbean islands, remains remarkably healthy and rich in species.

When weather conditions permit, Sonrisa offers guided dives along the wild east coast.

How does diving work on Bonaire?

What sets Bonaire apart is the absolute freedom it offers when diving: Instead of sticking to fixed boat schedules, you pack your gear into a rental car, drive to your chosen dive site, and head into the water — around the clock, on your own schedule.

The distances are short: from the Sonrisa, even the farthest dive site is only a 25-minute drive away, so you can relax and enjoy your surface interval.

For divers who have never dived solo before, Beat recommends one or two guided dives to brush up on the necessary navigation skills and get a feel for diving from shore.

A comprehensive range of diving and snorkeling activities, including PADI courses, rounds out the experience.

Sonrisa is centrally located, just a ten-minute walk from the town center with its many restaurants.
